- 35 years old
- A natural born citizen
- At least a 14 year citizen of the U.S.

- Chief executive; Directs the government
- Chief legislative; Proposes bills to congress, attempts to influence congress
- Economic planner; Prepares a federal budget proposal every year
- Party leader; Most important person in his political party
- Chief Diplomat; President is able to make decisive decisions
- Commander-in-Chief; Power to send out troops. Dictates military strategies and operations
